The only chance to stop this nightmare is for Patriots to continue to yell Hell NO! in a unified voice so loud that DC can't help but hear us. If they still refuse to listen then we make them listen when we go to the voters booth and remove everyone that voted yea.

Bad Equation: Zero Tolerance=Zero Common Sense

Little six-year-old Zachary Christie did something that many a person bigger and more powerful than he could not accomplish... he got The New York Times and Fox News on the same side of an issue.

Little Zachary was excited about becoming a cub scout and proud of his new Boy Scout camping utensil that contained a fork, spoon and knife. His only thought was eating his lunch with it and perhaps showing it off to his friends. But, unintentionally, he broke the No Tolerance rule on bringing weapons to school and the Christina School District in Newark, Del., suspended the first grader and ordered him to attend the district's reform school for 45 days.

Fortunately, for all concerned, (especially Zachary) the Christina School District reviewed the situation and let Good Common Sense enter the equation making the punishment more sensible for Zachary and any youngster in the future that commits a similarly foolish, but harmless transgression.

However, a 17-year-old Eagle Scout has also recently fallen victim to a severe shortage of Common Sense by the Lansingburgh School District and Superintendent George Goodwin. Matthew Whalen's dreams of attending the US Military Academy is in jeopardy due to his month long suspension for keeping a survival kit locked in the trunk of his car.
Whalen, a senior, says he stocks his car with a sleeping bag, water, a ready-to-eat meal and the small knife, which was given to him by his grandfather, a police chief in a nearby town.

But Lansingburgh High has a zero-tolerance policy for weapons, and when school officials discovered that Whalen kept his knife locked in his car, he says, they suspended him for five days — and then tacked on an additional 15 after a hearing. Yet the knife is not even considered a weapon by the New York State Education Department — definitions and punishments are left up to local school boards.

Obviously, not all school boards can be counted upon to display a modicum of common sense. Zero Tolerance cannot be tolerated if it continues to cause unreasonable harm to young folk that have no harmful intent.

President Obama and his administration has indicated their displeasure with Fox News in various ways from the occasional dig from the podium during news conferences by the president or daily news briefings by Robert Gibbs. There have also been comments and jokes directed at Fox News during a number of speeches or interviews with other networks.

“I’ve got one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration,” Obama said in June, though he did not mention Fox by name. He added, “You’d be hard pressed if you watched the entire day to find a positive story about me on that front.”

At the White House Correspondents Dinner in May, Obama even mocked the media for supporting him. "Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me," Obama said, spurring laughter and applause from the assembled journalists. "Apologies to the Fox table."

However, now the gloves are off and the White House has declared open warfare on Fox News Network by publicly declaring that they consider Fox News to be the opposition and not a legitimate news outlet. Anita Dunn, the White House communications director said, “We’re going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent. As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don’t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave.”

Additionally, not only is the president refusing any interview with or appearances on Fox News, all officials in the administration have likewise been instructed to boycott Fox News.
While animosity between a president and the media is nothing new, directing the animosity toward a specific news outlet is quite uncommon. Even Nixon's war with the New York Times was waged in private. What has never been done (to my knowledge) is the abuse of power being so openly conducted by this White House.

Most political pundits attest to the fact that conducting a feud with the press is ill-advised and rarely successful and many of them have commented as such.

David Gergen, who has worked for President Bill Clinton and three Republican presidents, questioned the propriety of the White House declaring war on a news organization.
"It's a very risky strategy. It's not one that I would advocate," Gergen said on CNN. "If you're going to get very personal against the media, you're going to find that the animosities are just going to deepen. And you're going to find that you sort of almost draw viewers and readers to the people you're attacking. You build them up in some ways, you give them stature." He added: "The press always has the last barrel of ink."

Tony Blankley, who once served as press secretary to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
"Going after a news organization, in my experience, is always a loser," Blankley said on CNN. "They have a big audience. And Fox has an audience of not just conservatives -- they've got liberals and moderates who watch too. They've got Obama supporters who are watching. So it's a temptation for a politician, but it needs to be resisted."

John Dickerson of Slate.com said, "It can look a little petty and a little small as it sort of . . . punches down at a cable network, And so they have to make sure that if they're going to take on Fox News, that they don't seem overly obsessed by it."

In recent weeks, the White House has begun using its government blog to directly attack what it called "Fox lies." I call using taxpayer money to hire someone whose only job is to watch and respond to Fox News an abuse of power.

Absurd decision makes mockery of the Nobel peace prize

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.

Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronizing in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.

The Nobel Committee has truly beclowned itself this time. The Peace Prize has meant nothing since 1994 when it was awarded to Yasser Arafat to reward his lifelong pursuit of Jew-killing. In times since, it has been awarded to Jimmy Carter and Al Gore for their lifelong pursuit of not being George W. Bush. Now, it's been awarded to Barack Hussein Obama for his lifelong pursuit of being Barack Hussein Obama.

(Winning the Nobel) is a bad thing, a very bad thing, because he got it ( as one must to snag a Nobel Peace Prize) — by denigrating American values and exceptionialism, demonstrating an aversion to moral clarity, refusing to call out despotic regimes (the Iranian students will be thrilled to know that they give prizes to leaders who think of them as an annoyance), disarming America, repeatedly distorting history to fit false narratives, refusing to stand up to international bullies (excuse me, members in good standing in the international community), and spinning a great deal of hooey about global wealth-sharing and environmental extremism.

And here’s the thing: these regimes don’t like America any more than they used to. They love a U.S. president who shares their disdain for America’s role in the world. So they gave him a prize. “America Isn’t Great” Man of the Year.

Eye-opening is the level of embarrassment — cringing, really — among those sympathetic to Obama. Take a look through the Washington Post’s Post-Partisan Blog. Yes, the conservatives are somewhere between appalled and bemused. But so are Richard Cohen, Ruth Marcus, and David Ignatius.

Cohen: Some cynics suggested that Obama’s award was a bit premature since, among other things, a Middle East peace was as far away as ever and the world had yet to fully disarm. Nonetheless, the president seemed humbled by the news and the Norwegian committee packed for its trip to the United States, where it will appear on Dancing with the Stars.

Marcus: This is ridiculous — embarrassing, even. I admire President Obama. I like President Obama. I voted for President Obama. But the peace prize? This is supposed to be for doing, not being — and it’s no disrespect to the president to suggest he hasn’t done much yet. Certainly not enough to justify the peace prize.

Ignatius: The Nobel Peace Prize award to Barack Obama seems so goofy — even if you’re a fan, you have to admit that he hasn’t really done much yet as a peacemaker. But there’s an aspect of this prize that is real and important — and that validates Obama’s strategy from the day he took office.

Mickey Kaus is cringing also. And AP’s Jennifer Loven is stumped, verging on incredulous. Even the Huffington Post is somewhat mortified. The liberals seem more upset than conservatives. I think because the Left takes this award seriously. Conservatives stopped doing that around the time Yasir Arafat got his PP.

What a joke. The prize created by Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite, has created an award for Obama, the guy who is trying to blowup United States.

PAST CONTROVERSIAL NOBEL SELECTIONS

Does anyone remember that Norway collaborated with Hitler awhile back? Does the name Quisling ring a bell? No wonder they couldn't agree on Gandhi. What more is there to say?

Newsweek: The Nobel shows Obama is still popular abroad. But that doesn't help much if the U.S. is seen as a banana republic.

We’ve heard a lot over the past few years about radicals trying to achieve their aims through “lawfare.” Here’s a new concept in asymmetric conflict: “prizefare.” The Nobel Committee was not rewarding Obama. It was attempting to geld him.

This award makes Obama an official member of the Socialist Admiration Society.

Reality has shrugged and exited stage right, allowing for his understudy Parody to take over the lead role for the next four years or so.

When I heard the announcement that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize I got the same feeling you get when you find out the truth about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny... it's all a lie.

Not So Noble

The Nobel Peace Prize committee apparently felt it was good enough for the winner to have some glorious if generalized aspirations, and, of course, to vehemently not be George W. Bush.

Apparently, even Barack Obama found his being awarded the Peace Prize to be a bit strange, saying, "I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative* figures that have been honored by this prize."

That's one of the few things he's ever said that I agree with wholeheartedly. That cannot be said for some of his other comments:

"This award is not simply about the efforts of my administration, it's about the courageous efforts of people around the world," Obama said. Efforts? What efforts? The deadline for nominations was Feb. 1, meaning the president was nominated after being in office for just 11 days.

"I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations."

I found it surreal to hear President Not Bush accept the prize on behalf of Americans AND the nations of the world... Oh, and you thought he wasn't a centrist! :) He is the most EGO-centrist person on the planet.

While cruising the Web I was surprised to find that the Liberals, in some ways, are more upset than the Conservatives over Obama getting the Nobel PP. Could be because Conservatives quit taking the prize seriously around about the time they gave the award to Yasir Arafat.

If you are not outraged yet, you have not been paying attention. So lend me your ears and prepare to become outraged...
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) calls for the Democrats to end it's attack upon First Amendment rights to Free Speech by imposing an illegal gag order on a private company that was critical of the proposed health care plan. Take a look at the video. Senator McConnell expresses his outrage quite on behalf of all American citizens who should be equally outraged.

President Obamy wins the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

The Nobel Prize committee stated that the reasons for their surprising selection was Obama's "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." They also referred to fostering understanding among the Muslim nations and his work for global nuclear disarmament.

Considering that Obama had only been president for two weeks before being nominated, and the only actual accomplishments has been making speeches, apologizing (ad nauseam) for the evil US, bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia and appeasing every dictator and despot in the world. And as far as nuclear disarmament... the only country that might disarm thanks to Obama's efforts is US!

Of course only liberals win the peace prize and Obama is the most left-leaning (lurching?) president to ever be elected in the US. That might have influenced the decision. But it is more likely that the primary reason Obama was selected (same as Al Gore and Jimmy Carter) was because HE IS NOT BUSH.
